Ranch-raised Roses
“Life is Hermosa” means “Life is Beautiful”.
Our name is inspired by the beauty of California - from our original home in Hermosa Beach near Los Angeles to Hermosa Ranch on the Central Coast and the beauty of our garden roses. We love the joy that flowers bring to life and how they remind us that life truly is Hermosa!
Chris and Evin and along with their kids, Drew and Gwen, and rescue dog, Lambeau, own and run Hermosa Ranch, a dream they’ve aspired to for many years. On an early date with Evin, Chris mentioned he’d love to be a farmer and Evin said she daydreamed about owning a flower shop. Both love the joy that working in the soil and flowers brought to the world. Fast forward after years of building their careers in Los Angeles, savings, falling in love with the Central Coast, twins, a rescue dog, and a leap into property ownership, and in 2017, Hermosa Ranch was founded.
After 3 years of DIY renovations of the home on the property and fixing wells, research for the best flowers to grow started and garden roses captured their passion. After months of research and taking Floret Flower’s course, the first batch of roses were planted in the Summer of 2020 during the Pandemic by Chris, Evin, Drew, Gwen, and Chris and Evin’s parents.
The team has expanded to include a few more valuable team members who have become like family and have a shared passion to bring joy to the world. There are also a few chickens (which by the way, roses and chickens don’t mix well but we’re sorting that).
The name Hermosa Ranch is inspired by Chris and Evin’s home in Hermosa Beach, an homage to the Spanish language roots of California, the beauty of the roses, and the belief that life is beautiful! (Hermosa means beautiful in Spanish). Committed to celebrating life, Hermosa Ranch also regularly donates flowers to local retirement homes to spread joy and pay respects to the generations that came before us all. Likewise, each rose field is named after one of Chris and Evin’s grandparents.
We appreciate your support of our small farm and encourage you to support small, locally grown farms and florists in your area. Life is Hermosa!
